G8/G20 Youth Summit goes on despite recent travel disruptions/cancellations due to the Icelandic volcano
April 27, 2010
There have been concerns about the recent volcanic activities in Iceland grounding flights. We would like to provide full confidence to all delegates that: the G8/G20 Youth Summit in Vancouver will go ahead as planned from May 9-14.
Most commercial aviation is expected to return to near normal levels throughout Europe by Thursday April 22 according to Eurocontrol (the European agency in charge of air navigation and safety). Thus, according to these forecasts, delegates should not expect any delays in the Summit.
Please be advised that there may be a backlog of stranded passengers trying to get on flights, and it may be advisable to book your flight as soon as possible and get to the airports early to avoid disappointments.
Late payments
If we have not received your delegate fee yet, we will no longer be able to hold your spot on hotels, dinner reservations or lunches after April 30th. For any questions please contact Peter, Director of Finance at yfid.finance@gmail.com but please get those payments in.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact one of the summit directors during our office hours or email me directly at yfid.chair@gmail.com. We look forward to welcoming you in Vancouver in a few short weeks.
